Nostalgia #1: PMR results
Sunday, April 18, 2010
My first 'Nostalgia' post.
****************
Her eyes were completely bloodshot from the sleepless nights she had. The reason why she could not sleep, was because of the imaginary butterflies that were fluttering violently in her stomach, causing her to toss and turn at night.
She reached the end of the line, observing everyone in front of her. They were all wearing the same expression as her, a nervous one. The girls were chirping away like birds while the boys were patting each other on their backs and shaking hands. Carmen knew this was a gesture of moral support and encouragement, they were wishing each other good luck.
"Carmen!" her friend who was also named Carmen (with a differnt surname, Hor) called from the front of the line. "Come here!"
Carmen C was reluctant to move from her safe position at the back. She was perfectly fine behind, knowing that she still had quite some time before reaching the desk in front. But she dragged herself to the front, not wanting to disrespect her friend. She could see Amanda Law waving to her at the same place Carmen H was from afar.
"So, are you nervous?" Carmen H said while poking the other Carmen's arm playfully.
"Of course! I think everyone is." Carmen C replied with a sigh after that. Both of them knew that it was soon going to be their turn to receive our result slips.
"Why not you go first?"
"Oh no! I don't want to go first!"
"Im scared! I dont want to take it first!"
"So am I! Please, i dont want to go first."
But after thinking it over for a while... Carmen C thought that she should admit defeat in their argument and go first. Besides, the faster she got her result, the faster her nightmare will end.
"Fine, I'll go first." she stated wearing a smirk on her face.
Just when she spoke her last word, the person in front of her walked, her hands cupping her whole face, HOLDING THE RESULT SLIP. She seems to be sobbing...
The person in front of her already received the slip. It didn't take her long enough to know that she was the next person to receive the slip. When she meant that she wanted the whole thing to end quick, she didn't mean for it to be THAT quick!
As she extended her hand to grab the slip, she shut her eyes rapidly. She wanted to escape from the position and situation she was in right now, but she knew it was obviously impossible unless she had the power to time-travel. She opened one of her eyes as she felt the thin-ness of the slip. There was no turning back, the only option she had was to open her eyes and face the music.
"Congratulations, Sze Ern!" her form teacher exclaimed in Malay.
Surprised with her teacher's outburst, she looked down on to the slip in her hand.
She saw her name first, then her eyes scrolled down to the list of subjects. BM - A, BI - A, and everything else was A as well. She couldn't believe her eyes! Were they deceiving her? She pinched herself hard to make sure that it was not a blissful dream. She pinched herself several times and nothing happened.
This must be real. To her disbelief, she achieved straight As! Her eyes twinkled and there was nothing else in her face other than joy.
Carmen jumped into the air and strided with confidence towards her parents to show that their daughter did not dissapoint them this time. On the way, she heard word of congratulations which were all drowned in her mixed feelings.
"How the heck did she manage to achieve such results?" she thought to herself. Part of her thinking was also influenced by the low self-confidence in herself. Moreover, she remembered answering quite a number of questions incorrectly! Carmen was so ready to return home with a devastated face, showing sign of defeat. Until she saw the slip.
While basking in the after glow, a group of friends crowded around her and endlessly asked the same question that was asked to them and to those who knew their results already, "How many As did you get?!"
Carmen smiled from ear to ear, and that was enough to show her friends that she achieved success. No words were needed to show that the girl who never thought she would get straight As, eventually got it.
At that point, she knew. It was the work of God. Only He could make this possible. It was to her, a memorable miracle.
After all the asking and answering, her family (excluding her mother) drove to their favourite fish base noodles restaurant :)

Quite some things were not true and exaggerated btw. But well, it kinda happened like that.

Christmas & PMR Results Day
Tuesday, December 22, 2009
This post is mostly about me ranting... and ranting... and ranting.
Oh yes, Christmas is here! I have been anticipating Christmas..
But after I heard that the PMR results day was on Christmas Eve.. honestly, I didn't feel very good about Christmas anymore
Yes I know, Christmas is not about my exam results but it's about Jesus! So whatever I get, I must learn to believe that whatever the results are, I must not sulk over it.
Yeah I keep telling that to myself but in the end, it just goes back to... "I won't get straight As... this is so going to ruin my Christmas."
I don't know, I mean.. I have tried being optimistic and positive about my results, but it's just not working at all. I have really low confidence when it comes to results. This happens everytime I sit for an exam, and I never get over it.
Remember the piano exam? I practically freaked out after the exam and kept telling myself I won't pass... I'll fail. But in the end, I got a merit, which was TOTALLY unexpected and came from nowhere. I would have never expected I would pass, let alone a merit!! Lol, I'm not trying to brag but seriously..
I am really thankful to God for this..
It's a miracle!!!
I just hope my PMR results would be something like my piano exam results. I expect it to be really bad, but in the end it turns out to be really good :D
Sigh, getting bad results would be more painful than a physical slap on my face
Or hitting my head on the glass
. It would really disappoint me and my parents. I keep telling myself, "I tried my best.. I studied as hard as I could. I can't do anything anymore, there's no use crying over spilt milk". But I mean, who would feel good after getting bad results right?? I'm just afraid that the results will affect my Christmas spirit.
I remember UPSR. It was still pretty clear in my mind. I got 4 over 5As.. I cried for two nights straight, curling up in my bed and didn't want to leave the room (kinda). I am a freakin' neurotic!!
I hope I don't do the same for PMR. If not, I would miss Christmas this year, and I so don't want that.
You know the thing they always say.. "If you think you can, you can". Sorry la, I honestly think I can and cannot at the same time. And if that was true, I am so dead.
Haha, and Christmas caroling would be at night. I'm very sure.. people will be asking me how my results were. Lol, no lah I don't mind you guys asking. If I got good results, haha, I obviously wouldn't mind telling you! But if I don't get good results, I don't know what to say. I don't think I even want to open my mouth. I'll just prepare a card which says my results and flash it to anyone who asks. I shall consider that :P
Whatever my results are, I must concentrate on the future.. seriously must study extra hard next year
. Everytime I get this kind of motivation, it just fades away and I become as lazy as a pig again.
My goodness, I really have a messed up mind...
I'll probably be writing another Christmas post another day. See you then :)

Kemahiran Hidup (Living Skills)
I was almost late for the paper. No, I went to school on time (in fact, much earlier before the exam started). In PMR, I am known as student WP073K23 (my angka giliran, easy to rmb cause one part of it is related to my bday!). We (K21-K26 students) were sooo clueless because the two exam halls for KH ERT (Home Science) candidates are already full. So we wandered around the school looking for a teacher who could help. We were so afraid they forgot/left us out and we couldn't sit for our exam.
Who knew we were assigned to sit in the hall with all the other KH KT (Technical) and PK (Accounts) students.
But KH was ok. Didn't know how to answer most of the electricity questions.
MY BLINKIE!

I'm going to come up with more since I'm not as busy now.. I am also gonna work on a new layout. This one is getting boring.
Had a fun time with Phoebe and Lydia jie jie @ Saisaki and Mid Valley!
FOODDDDD~

Bowling @ Mid Valley!

I can't post the score because it's too embarassing :P!
Love taking pics of food
Thanks for letting me tag along

Maths Paper 1
Paper 1 was ok.
Maths Paper 2
Ok, I HATE PAPER 2! Can't do a few questions :(
Sejarah (History)
THIS is the peak of PMR.
Lol, Mak Yee Leng's hubby, Sultan Abu Bakar from Johor (inside joke) was in the paper
Anyways, it was ok though. I think Maths Paper 2 is the toughest among all the papers (not sure about KH yet). Or I'm just really bad in it.
One more day, and it's over :) Jap buffet and movie tomorrow :D!
I KNOW ONE.

PMR student tries to delay test by setting fire to school
JOHOR BARU: The first day of PMR turned fiery for SMK Johor Jaya 2 here as one of the examination hall went up in smoke.
A student was believed to have torched the examination hall in a desperate attempt to delay the PMR.
One boy at SMK Johor Jaya 2, in Johor Baru, had a burning desire to escape his PMR test — he set the examination hall on fire.
This was the second time a fire happened in the school right before the PMR. The first incident happened two years ago.
The 6am fire yesterday completely destroyed a classroom which was converted into an examination hall and located on the ground floor of a three-storey building.
However, the PMR was not disrupted as the school’s administration relocated the affected 75 students to another classroom.
It is learnt that the school authorities lodged a police report alleging arson as a teacher was believed to have seen a person running away from the scene.
Johor Deputy Education Depart-ment director Markom Giran, who visited the scene, said a student was believed to be responsible for the fire.
“We think diesel was used to start the fire,” he said, adding that it extinguished at around 6.25am.
“Students taking the PMR were immediately relocated to another classroom initially prepared as an A(H1N1) quarantine area,” Markom said, adding that a total of 365 students are sitting for the PMR at the school.
He commended the school authorities for efficiently moving the students to another location without any disruption to the examination.
Markom added that a similar incident had occurred in the same school about two years ago during the PMR.
“Last time, a school workshop was torched. We believe this was the work of students who deliberately tried to stall the examination because they were not prepared,” he said.
Markom added that the culprit was never found in the previous arson incident.
He said about RM20,000 would be needed to repair and repaint the damaged areas.

Geography
Once again.. I blew my nose very loudly and laughed to myself.
The invigilators were too tired, they fell asleep (on the chair) o.O
What kinda invigilator is that?
Oh yeah, two more days of PMR.
I made two actually, but I will post up the other one after PMR :D
Blinkies might be tiring, but they're fun.
I'm so afraid of Maths & Sejarah next week! My two weakest subjects in ONE day. Luckily they gave us 2 days (weekends) to study. I wouldn't be able to cover up both subs in one day.
Praise the Lord, it's almost over!!!
PMR: Day Two - English & Science
Thursday, October 8, 2009
HAHA even if no one's reading this, MY BLOG IS FOR MYSELF :D
English Paper 1
Quite easy
English Paper 2
Quite ok. Not sure whether I can score for literature though!
HAHA..
I caught a cold before PMR so I'm basically SICK.
I sneezed, so I took a tissue paper to blow my nose. Apparently, the hall was very very silent. So when I blew my nose, it was kinda loud. But I had so much mucus! So I continued blowing.. it sounded so funny, I laughed at myself. Literally. Hope no one saw that.
Science Paper 1
Also quite ok.
Science Paper 2
All those questions that came out, I have never did them before. NEVER!
So I reckon, that our year's PMR Science, pretty much sucks.
The cross-pollination questions was really hard. I shoot until my bullets no more weih!!!!!
Once again, very blur case. I didn't know that Maths Paper 1 was postponed to Monday! So I thought, oh don't need to study so much for Monday (Maths 2 and SEJARAHHHH). But, guess I have to study more now.
Wow, my first post was on Sept 28 2007. 9/28/07. Almost gonna be 3 years old :D!

PMR: Day One - BM
Wednesday, October 7, 2009
Why am I not studying for my English and Science tomorrow? Well, am I not writing in English? So indirectly, I'm studying for my English.
Other than that, I really needed to record my expererience on my 1st day of PMR :) One of the purposes of this blog, is to record experiences which I have felt so that I could read it again another day. It's basically like a digital diary, an open one.
OK 1st day of PMR, I felt a bit queasy and nervous. Unsure of what questions were coming out. So many versions of 'soalan bocor'. Gosh, which one to believe?
I was so blur case! I didn't even know we were not suppose to bring our pencil box in the exam hall, cheh.
Paper 1 - Ok loh. Hopefully I get 30+. Raja Bersiung came out for questions 30-35?! Like what thec heck, I haven't read that one yet. So I tembak quite a lot for the komsas part of the paper. Raja Bersiung (I think) is the story about the king who likes to drink blood. A vampire king.
After the paper, we were all so clueless. Should we take our stationary and papers? Can we leave? HAHA the look on everyone's faces :P
Paper 2 - Oh, this one is the one where I got mad at.
Section A
DANGGGGGG! I started writing a few words, and then my pen ran out of ink. Fine, I have another one, thank God. OMGOSHHHHHHHH, it ALSO ran out of ink. And darn it, it's new! Haven't used it before. But I tried out the pen at home (both pens), and both worked perfectly. Now it's out of ink.
I panicked. HYPERVENTILATING...
Ok nevermind, I have a pencil (I actually had 2, but I lent one to Saw o.O). Wait, am I allowed to write in pencil? Darn, there's no time to lose, I'm gonna start in pencil.
Section B
OK, my pencil's running out of carbon lead. I need a PEN. So I put up my hand to ask the kind invigilator whether I could borrow a pen. So, I borrowed Mak Yee Leng's blue pen. THANK GOD FOR YOUR PEN, MAK!
Section C
DANG, they all look hard. So I tried the 'faedah2 memperoleh ramai rakan' question. Well, I managed to crap my way through.
Section D
OHEMGEE, 20 minutes left!!! And all the 'soalan bocor' were wrong. None of them came out xD But persoalan's okay lah. Why did they have to give us 'Kebijaksanaan Seorang Pemimpin' in Pahlawan Pasir Salak?? If they gave us, 'kasih sayang' for Panas Salju.. wahhh I can write so many (quoted by Ysabelle). This is the first time in PMR history (not sure) where they only gave us Pahlawan Pasir Salak as the only choice. A form 2 novel! And I read Panas Salju, didn't really read Pahlawan Pasir Salak. Sighs.
Wanted to rewrite the whole Section A in pen, but darn there's only what.. 5 minutes left??!
And the most ruining thing today and probably the rest of my life, is when Chong Mun Yen told me I cannot write in pencil for the exam. It was written in the rules. T.T
"Calon hendaklah menulis jawapan dengan menggunakan PEN MATA BOLA BERDAKWAT HITAM ATAU BIRU. Pensel atau pena mata bola berdakwat selain hitam atau biru boleh digunakan untuk melukis gambar rajah dan peta."
MUST WRITE IN PEN?! I WROTE IN PENCIL FOR SECTION A!! So I started calculating how much marks I would lose if the evil examiner did not accept my pencil-written answer. 30 MARKS. 30 FREAKIN' MARKS. Not 10, not 20.. but 30 :O WOIIII! Surely cannot get A or even B already loh like that. CMY, thanks for ruining my life and future :)
You know what I should have did? I should have wrote at the bottom of the paper,
"Minta maaf. Kedua-dua pen saya telah kehabisan dakwat. Harap cikgu boleh terima jawapan saya dalam pensil. Terima kasih!"
Hopefully my paper doesn't get wet or my answer won't get smudged on the way to the examiner. AND ALSO, pray that my examiner is a lenient, kind one. Hope she accepts my pencil-written answer. Maybe she became too tired after marking so many other papers, she won't notice/mind mine is written in pencil! I hate my pens. So much.
I think now, I have developed a fear. A fear for pens running out of ink.
