Sims 3 so slow and laggy :(

Tuesday, June 9, 2009

I finally got the Sims 3! From Eugene's friend :) TQ so much Eugene and his friend!

I installed it into my new computer last night and the everything was fine. UNTIL I played the game. My goodness you have no idea how slow the game and the loading was!! I was so pissed off by the game, I decided to play it the next day.

THE NEXT DAY, still as slow and laggy as ever. It was terrible, man. 4-5 days took around 4-5 hours when an ideal time for one day is usually minutes. I can't stand playing it, but it's the game I have wanted to play all my life!! So I continued playing the laggy and slow version. It's lagging so badly. I'm gonna have a heart attack soon. To calm myself down, I listened to classical music (specifically, Mario Franguolis's Bungoiorno Principessa on repeat mode).
Your wish came true Wei Joe. It lags.

The thing is probably slow because my computer doesn't meet certain requirements needed by the game, such as my processor. But other than that, everything matches. CURSE THE PROFESSOR PROCESSOR!

I Carmen Chan, have no patience when it comes to the computer.

SO,
I tried installing it on my old computer.. video card needs to be updated, ARGH!
Then I tried installing it on my laptop, not enough space o.O
Wanted to install it on my mom's laptop, cannot.. for work.
Also wanted to install it on my old laptop, TOO OLD.

Another thing I'm angry about.. is every 40minutes - 1hour, the game stops, the screen goes blank for awhile and goes back to the desktop with a pop up awaiting me, saying the display driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered. So I have encountered that thing for around 4-5 times. Then I have to click 'OK' and go back to the game which takes around 6 minutes? This is maybe because I have to update the Microsoft Vista software. And then when I get back to the game, I can't click certain buttons, so I have to go back to the desktop and then return to the game again. It's doing it more frequently now. So sad right?

My goodness, I'm going mad!
Sims 3 and I have no fate I tell you.

But on the bright side, my Sim's pregnant (after 3 stupid hours)! I brought her to the spa to have a massage :) She loved it. Now she's suffering from backache. Poor her.
I would love to screencap my family and show it to you guys, but I'm using the laptop to post this, so I can't.
Great, now it's just stopping there... doing nothing. #$(*^#W?!]@$@!

You can read my Twitter updates to see what I have said during the installation, the beginning of the game, and the part where I become neutrotic.

Edit:
It's working slightly better now! Praise the Lord! Don't know why and how. I hope it's like this all the time :)
But the 'display driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered' thing is still very irritating. It's popping up every 20 minutes now!

5 things I hate about my internet!

Monday, June 8, 2009

I am SO 'impressed' with my internet connection. IT DRIVES ME NUTS.

5. Pop-up Ads
I tell you.. these pop-up ads are so so annoying. I know there's a pop-up blocker but what if I didn't have one?! And although I have one now, they still pop up sometimes.

4. Virus MSN conversations
AIYOYO I hate these! They make my MSN crash. That is why I don't sign in MSN that much anymore. All the "Come, look here! There are pix are you" and "Jane lost 10kg in a month using ___! Click here to try it!". Some ppl say that my MSN is doing these stuff too. But when I scanned the comp, nothing came up. CURSE YOU HIDDEN MSN VIRUS!

3. Virus websites
When I accidentally put in the wrong URL (typo error), some virus website appears. GAH!!!

2. Internet speed so slow/crappy
I absolutely HATE my internet speed. It is getting on my nerves at this very moment. Sometimes I only get around 5.0 KiB per second and BELOW (sometimes even 0.1 Kib/s) which is extremely extremely extremely slow for downloading things (not surfing the web). Do you know that my maximum internet speed is around 95.7 KiB per second??! And I'm getting like.. 5KiB/s. Annoying. And then Phoebe's dad has to come and fix it all the time. Poor him. But sometimes it's stable (20+ kb/s is considered good for me) which is very awkward. My internet is like a woman.. so unpredictable.

1. Downloads get cut off
My internet is kinda crappy most of the time. It suddenly cuts off or disconnects by itself and then it comes back on several minutes/seconds later. I get very very angry when this happens while I'm downloading something and it reaches around 95% (probably took me around 3-4 hours to dwl), and then the download stops there because the internet disconnected. I have to start ALL over again #?!%$*!

But of course, I am grateful I have internet. But these things really make me wanna strangle streamyx and kick their manager's butt, especially because of no. 1 & no. 2.

Matt's back from the US for a short short time! It's great to see him again. He looks bigger than the last time I saw him :) A whole bunch of us ate @ Gasoline (Look Out Point) last night. Maybe we're gonna have another gathering tonight. Sigh, gonna miss him when he's gone! Don't know when he's ever coming back.

I still miss camp.

Missing camp..

PICTURE HEAVY!

Church camp was great :D! I mean.. everything was great. The beach, the fellowship, the message, the food!

The journey there was longer than I thought and we kinda got lost because the entrance was so narrow and hidden. Then we had lunch and went to our dorms to put our stuff. We stayed in dorm W3 with Carmen Phuah, Shannon, Abby, Janice, Queenie, Phoebe, Stephanie, Ivy, Adrienne, Le Hong and Meity (Le Hong's maid). Le Hong was super duper cute!

And this is Lé Hong (it's pronounced as leh hong). Very inside joke!

Game time with Uncle Jacky (game-master) was my one of my favourite activities there. We had to create animal sounds, eat sour plums and blow and burst balloons for the Icebreakers. But that was only 'icebreakers'. We also had 'Mega-Relays'. Sweet tartar sauce, I have never seen the adults so active! Running here, running there.

A few of the challenges were playing that wire game and guess Christian English songs by listening to Mrs. Leong sing (a game similar to that TVB variety show where they ask foreigners to sing Canto songs). We also had to put on stockings and gloves on 5 teammates without damaging them, eat sour plums (again!) and wrap a teammate with newspaper! Great fun.

Beach time was nice too. I FINALLY got to ride a banana boat. Pictures are not with me atm.
4th June - It was nice, feeling the wind blow against your face and all. At first I thought it would be scary, but in the end, it wasn't as scary as I thought it was. They dropped us near the shore, which was also fun :)
5th June - Eh. It wasn't as fun as yesterday. Yes the wind-blowing-against-face thing was the best part, but the dropping part was bad. At first he dropped us in the middle of the ocean (don't know why) and my nose hurt really bad cause all the water went in. 2nd time, he dropped us neat the shore which was fine, but it hurt as well. Don't know why the one yesterday didn't hurt at all.

The food was très bien too! It was Chinese food for all 3 days.

Homogenous Session was fun too. We had this game called, 'The Life and Times of Sid Han'. He had a 'diary' and we were suppose to complete the tasks given in the diary, which resulted in pictures like these (Isaiah 43:1-7):

"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine."

"Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give men in exchange for you, and people in exchange for your life."

"I will say to the north, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Do not hold them back.' Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth-"

"Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made."

I don't rmb what was the meaning behind this pic.. but it's cute!

Not to forget, the meaningful messages by Rev. Earl Bengs were powerful! "You ARE somebody!!"

Random funny pictures...

Having fun with the megaphone..
I had funnier pics of KK holding the megaphone.. don't know where it went.

Just being silly..

Swinging away..

Aww there are a lot more nice pictures from the DSLR camera!
And if you want to see more.. I have uploaded them in FB :)

Let there be ♦³

OH YES FINALLY IT'S JUNE 2ND! IT'S OUT!
I must be one of the most excited Sims 3 fan in M'sia or something :P

People who have bought the game, have posted some screencaps in the Sims 3 Facebook page and.. it. looks. so. cool.

Some stuff about the game:
The Sims Wiki
It is possible to just change the nose, for example, but it is possible to use the 'dot' system to go into more dept, i.e. change nostril definition, nose tip scale, bridge height, etc.

Accessories will also be added (gloves, socks, eyeglasses, bracelets, earrings, shoes...) can be customized with Create a Style tool. There are more styles for hair than before. Changing hair/clothing/face is easy: All clothes can be customised. You cannot choose layers, but if the clothes already have layers then you can alter the colours and texture of both parts. You can just click on them and the CAS takes you directly to the right menu for editing whatever you selected. There is an eyelash length slider bar. Socks and shoes are also fully customizable. They are chosen separately per outfit as well.

The player can choose the Sim's full name, age, gender, skin tone, weight and muscle tone.
Now you can change the eyelash length, socks, shoes and nostril definition!!!!

Five of over 60 personality traits can be chosen for each Young Adult Sim and above, with the chance to change them with a Lifetime Happiness reward. (Younger Sims have fewer traits. A teen has 4 traits, kids have 3 traits, and toddlers have 2 traits). One Lifetime Wish is also chosen.
This is the thing I look forward to the most in the game.

"Sims can now read books about pregnancy and get medical advice at the hospital. Your Sims can also announce they're pregnant to their husband/lover, family, and friends. It has been confirmed that pregnancy lasts 6 days. Sims can give birth at home or they can go to the hospital in a car, taxi, or on a bike. There is a chance that Sims may give birth to twins or triplets."
AHHHHHHHHHHH! That's so new and cool :D

"During gameplay, if a sim is sleeping you can hover over the bed icon (which the sim is currently doing) and it will tell you the time that the sim will be fully rested. And if you allowed them to sleep until they were fully rested, they would receive a positive moodlet."
COOL.

"Two new features of The Sims 3 are the automatic transfer of all inventory belongings of the deceased to the family inventory, and the ability of the player to throw a funeral party. When Sims die they become Ghosts. Rumors say you can resurrect a Sim by taking their urn to the science lab. Sunset Valley has its own cemetery: Sunset Valley Cemetery."
First thing I'm gonna do is kill a Sim!

"You’re now free to pick or ignore your Sims’ wishes without fear of some sort of mental breakdown. Instead, you really get to focus on telling the story and making decisions; your Sim just makes suggestions along the way. If you promise that you’ll help your Sim get married, then decide to throw that wish away, your Sim will be a little sad, but otherwise it’s really all up to you.
Wants are now wishes.. interesting.

  • Every career has its own building in the Neighborhood.
  • Advancing in career is changed as it depends on skills, personality, relationship with colleagues/boss and even certain goals that have to be fulfilled. For example taking work home.
  • Confirmed careers are Business, Criminal, Culinary, Entertainment, Journalism, Law Enforcement, Medical, Military, Musician, Political, Science, and Sport.
  • You can decide how hard they work while on the job. You have options as to what kind of performance you want to give: Business as Usual, Work Hard, Take it Easy, Meet Coworkers, Hang Out with Coworkers, Suck Up to Boss, or Practice a Skill.
  • There are part-time jobs for teens, adults and elders, including such positions Bookstore Clerk, Grocery Store Clerk, Spa Receptionist, Spa Specialist, and Burial Specialist.
  • If you are a rockstar, other people recognize you and react. The same if you are at the top of other careers, like the military one: people will use the military greeting with you and there will be some banners showing you.
  • Jobs pay hourly, not daily.
  • You can become business partners with community businesses. Once you own the company you can rename it, fire the staff, and make use of its facilities for free..
So many jobs!

And this... is why I want Sims 3 so terribly, but I don't know when it's gonna be released in Malaysia! I wanted to pre-order it but, I don't know how to o.O Haha!

People have started playing the game and you can check it out in YT.
